Questions, answered
Is the free version going away?+
No. The local app — offline transcription and every formatting feature — is free forever and stays MIT licensed. Pro pays for the things that run on a server.
What does SayEcho Cloud send, and where?+
With SayEcho Cloud selected, each utterance's audio goes to SayEcho Cloud to be transcribed and, for tone matching or agent prompts, the text goes to its writing model. Nothing is stored beyond a per-month minute count for fair use. Every request is listed in Settings → Privacy → What left this machine.
Is there a usage limit?+
Pro includes 3,000 minutes of cloud transcription a month — about two and a half hours of speaking every working day. Offline transcription is never counted.
How do I get my key?+
Buy from the app (Settings → SayEcho Pro) and it activates itself. Buy here and the key appears on the next page as soon as Paddle confirms the payment.
Who handles payment?+
Paddle is the merchant of record: it takes the card, charges the right tax or VAT for your country, sends the receipt, and handles refunds and cancellations.
Can we run it ourselves?+
Yes — Teams includes a self-hosted server. Point it at your own Whisper and LLM servers and no audio or text leaves your network. See server/README.md in the repository.
